For EDF at the Cattenom site, we developed two electrically driven mobile lead castles for the safe transport of high-dose waste (up to 1 Sv/h) generated during the decontamination of the reactor cavity. The scope of work included concept development, design, structural analysis, as well as manufacturing and commissioning of the lead castles.
The transport solutions were specifically tailored to the requirements of the nuclear environment. Particular focus was placed on mechanical stability, radiation protection effectiveness, and safe handling under operating conditions. The lead castles were designed to ensure user-friendliness, thereby reducing personnel exposure times.
The project was successfully implemented in close cooperation with the customer and meets all relevant safety regulations.
