Project Engineer (m/f/d) Nuclear Waste Management Planning

The impact you can make with us:

  • You will plan the management of contaminated residues and the disposal of radioactive waste as part of operational or dismantling and decontamination projects for nuclear facilities.
  • In doing so, you will develop tailor-made concepts for various types of residues and waste, including low- and medium-level radioactive waste, in compliance with legal and operational requirements.
  • For our customers, you will also plan the packaging of radioactive waste, taking into account radiation protection, storage life, transport regulations and official requirements.
  • You will specify suitable packaging systems that comply with the specifications of the Konrad final disposal conditions.
  • You will coordinate regularly with project management, radiation protection, the relevant departments of the customer and other project participants to ensure safe, legally compliant and economical disposal.
  • You will carry out waste characterisation and classification based on radiological, physical and chemical parameters.
  • You will support the selection and implementation of suitable treatment, packaging and transport procedures and routes and design customer-specific conditioning facilities.
  • In addition, you will contribute to the further development of disposal strategies, internal standards and digitalisation options in order to make processes more efficient, traceable and robust in terms of regulatory compliance.

Your profile:

  • You have a completed technical degree in power engineering, process engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or a comparable field of study.
  • Ideally, you have experience in the field of nuclear dismantling & decontamination (D&D) and disposal, as well as in dealing with customers.
  • Initial knowledge of common residue and waste tracking systems (ReVK/ReVS/RVR, AVK, or similar) is an advantage.
  • You are known for your strong analytical thinking skills, a high level of initiative, and your independent and structured way of working.
  • You are very familiar with standard IT tools (MS Office programs).
  • You are flexible and willing to travel.
  • Ideally, you hold a valid driving licence.
  • Excellent German skills (at least C1 level) complete your profile; good English and French skills are an advantage.
